UPDATE: 18 MARCH 2020
We wanted to take a moment to update you on the action we’re taking as a church in response to COVID-19.
In times of crisis we believe it is so important that the church doesn’t shut down or cease to operate, and so over the last weeks and days we have been closely monitoring the situation as it has developed and consulting with our church leadership on the best course of action for us moving forward, especially given the government’s latest advice regarding gatherings of over 100 people.
The decision we have reached is that this Sunday, March 22nd, we will not be holding our normal Sunday services at our physical church locations (this also includes Friday youth services.) Instead, we will be holding an online church experience until further notice. Sunday services will be streamed at 9am, 11am and 5pm (AEST).
There’s nothing like all being together and that’s why we have waited and considered all options before we make a decision, but we’re so glad that technology can allow us to come together as one church Australia-wide. We’d encourage you to watch the online service at home with your family or with a small gathering of friends. We will have a pastoral team available on live chat.
Your local pastors will communicate with you about your individual church’s plan to continue to support and care for everyone in your church community because you really matter to us. This is a time where we need to look around and see how we can be there for each other.
Philippians 2 says, “in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of others. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus.” Can I encourage you to stay close with each other, call/text each other, and where possible continue meeting together in small gatherings.
Like you, we have no idea what’s ahead, and even though church may look different for the foreseeable future, we know that our world needs us to rise above the craziness and be there as an anchor of hope.
This is why we are banding together with churches all over Australia and taking part in a National Day of Prayer and Fasting on March 29th. We also recommend praying, along with other Christians across Australia, at 19:00 (7pm) every day launching Thursday 19th March.
We’re confident that we will come out of this stronger than before. God has a knack for taking bad situations and turning them around for good to bring Him glory.
We will keep you updated on social media and via email.
